Birthday Party For Jesus

Jesus' Birthday

Dashing through the snow, in a one horse open sleigh….!
Clearly the writer of this song did not live in Texas.  Did I miss fall because summer seems to be back already.  Even if it's cooler in the mornings, the summer temperatures are back by afternoon.  Christmas time in 80 degree weather?  Crazy enough, I love it!  I personally think nothing compares to a Texas Christmas.  My tree and lights are up, and I am ready for Christmas.  Why do I love Christmas so much?  I think it is because it is a time of such JOY.
What brings you joy this season?   Maybe it is the way your child’s eyes light up when they see the Christmas tree or that special gift.  It could be that you will see family that you haven’t seen in a long time.  Maybe it is the feeling of warmth that the Christmas Eve candlelight service brings to your heart.
This Christmas think of ways you can give that joy to someone else.  Bring a friend to the Christmas Light Park.  By the way, Family Nights for the light park are December 20 and 21 from 6-9:30 pm.  This is a special time where families get out of their vehicles, come inside for a craft, and take a picture.  It is also a great opportunity for people to connect with our church family.  Invite someone to the Christmas Eve service. Intentionally look for ways to meet someone’s needs this season.  Show the JOY of Christ this Christmas.
While we are talking about the JOY of Christmas, the Children’s Christmas Party is December 8th from 4:30 – 7:30.  There will be games, crafts, pizza, cupcakes and a special event that will present the Gospel and true meaning of Christmas!  The Children’s Christmas Party is for kindergarten through 6th grade.  For those attending Community Christmas Parties or serving in the Children’s Christmas Party, there is a nursery through preschool age party.  If you are not attending a Community party, I encourage you to volunteer with our children that night.  There will be a lot of joyful moments with our kids!  Come celebrate the birth of Christ at what has long been called our Happy Birthday Jesus Party!

This Christmas, most of all, remember the hope and joy that Christ brings and share that with others.

“For unto us a Child is born, to us a Son is given…(Isaiah 9:6).
