Disciple Groups

Disciple groups differ from other small groups and corporate worship. The life-on-life nature of the micro-group of 3-4 disciples of the same gender fosters friendship with a Kingdom-focused purpose. Through the journey of personal investment and sharing life struggles, you will develop deep friendships that are not common outside of Christ-centered disciple-making.

Who Is A Disciple?

A disciple of Jesus is anyone God rescues through faith in Jesus Christ. Like Peter in his great confession, this person has acknowledged Jesus as the Messiah or the Christ and has received the free gift of salvation only available in Him. God makes disciples of His children who are devoted to Christ, developed by Christ, and deployed to the mission of Christ.

“And he said to them, ‘Come, follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.’” (Matthew 4:19)

Why Commit To Disciple-Making?

Jesus demonstrated the work of disciple-making throughout His earthly ministry. He invested in a few chosen men and then commissioned them to go into the world and continue His work. Jesus modeled life-on-life friendship, training, truth, and accountability as He walked alongside His disciples. If anyone could create the perfect message and method capable of withstanding the test of time, it would undoubtedly be the Author of time and creation. Jesus did just that by investing in His disciples, who later would make disciples who made disciples!

“Go, therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to follow all that I commanded you; and behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19-20)

What Is A Disciple Group?

The various concepts that shape the disciple group should come directly from the Bible. Disciple group members will encourage one another to be in the Word daily. Some critical actions whereby the Bible is used in one’s growth as a disciple are memorization, inductive study, and obedienceThe Way and The Truth curriculum functions as a reproducible tool for disciples and future generations of disciples. Its format is intended to train disciples to have daily Bible study, Scripture memorization, devotional time, and prayer time. This tool helps disciples make disciples. A healthy disciple group fosters a culture of accountability.  Disciples should share their testimonies, convictions, struggles, and praises. Without the willingness to embrace this structure, accountability cannot happen.
