8. Rejoice in Suffering

The apostle Paul wrote this second “hopeful” letter from Corinth to a young church in Thessalonica that was struggling with “persecution” (1:4-7) and having false teachers say they were in the tribulation period. Paul encourages them in chapter one to see that they were not, in fact, in “the Day of the Lord” and that they should “rest” (1:7) affliction since it has a number of divine benefits like growth and glory.
