Curt Edgerton

I cannot recall a time in my life when I wasn’t aware that Jesus loved me. Some of my first memories involve the light-colored paneling of a church nursery and the towering laminate beams of a small Southern Baptist Church. However, I chose to become an atheist. My authentic conversion to Jesus occurred during my Senior year of high school. I am often asked how an atheist comes to faith as if expecting a miracle. In reality, every salvation is the greatest miracle ever performed.

In my early 20s, I felt a calling and later accepted a bi-vocational youth minister position. During this season of life, I collected apologetics certifications and degrees while shifting through titles such as student minister, camp pastor, evangelist, associate pastor, and missionary. I said yes to every invitation, went on every trip, and inevitably suffered burnout and frustration with the Western church.

For many years, I didn’t enter a church building, choosing instead to spend my free time backpacking, kayaking, skydiving, or shooting photography. My wife Lauren and I pursued success in our professions and hobbies, but through a series of literal mountain top experiences, God called us back to His Church.
I swore I would never go on another mission trip, take another picture, build another website, shoot another video, or write another curriculum for the local church. Today, most of my time is spent taking photographs, building sites and apps, shooting videos, preparing messages, and publishing books to help advance Jesus’ mission of making disciples.

Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
(1Corinthians 1:25)
